Simple answer is no, I am not selling any link position here. The only option I can think about is normal exclusive banner advertising at the top of the site. This banner will be displayed on all directory subpages (but not on the blog). Advertising option is available only for normal children safe no spam sites (no adult, alcohol, gambling, pharmacy etc.). Price is 300 USD/month or 3000 USD/year. Payment is available only by wire or Epassporte. If anyone is interested let me know here in the comments with link to your site and contact information. I want to keep this site clean and valuable for blog submitting webmasters. So it is a reason why I do not want any link schemes and paid links.

Almost same answer is about Site of the moment. It is not paid review, this is just site I noticed during reviewing submitted sites as nice, valuable or just siply I like it and I don't know why :). So there is only one way to have your site in this category, have a great blog and submit it to Blogdirs directory and wait if I like it.

Art By Sarah Pittman

Art By Sarah Pittman

It's another pick as a site of the moment (now it looks like almost Site of the Month :)) and again nice blog about art.

Taken from that blog:

About the Artist

Im a full time, self taught artist based in Cheshire in the UK, and i live with my boyfriend and two adorable little furballs (or cats if you prefer) called Aimee and Luna.

As it says on the site header, im a fairy, fantasy and animal artist, although other subjects do appear from time to time - but i love fairies and animals so i suppose it stands to reason that they feature the most in my artwork.

Most of my artwork is created with coloured pencils, Faber Castell Polychromos being my pencil of choice (love love love them!), but again other things sneak in from time to time…watercolours, acrylics and inks mainly, however i seem to use them less than ever now and tend to stick with my pencils, as theyre what i have the most fun with.

--------------

Enjoy (if you want to take a look only at art, go directly to Gallery)

Artery Gallery

I decided to post here sometimes a site I just accepted and I think that is interesting, nice etc. There will be no review, just simply link to it (And official description), to give it better audience. I don't think that writing comment is harder than writing email and because comments are moderated your private message - if you want keep it private - will be for my eyes only and will not be published. And my email is spam free :)

Link exchange - for now I do not exchange main page links. Link exchange is possible classic via submitting your blog with reciprocal link and as exchange of submit page links of other blog directories if there will be interest. I can consider some linking from blog, but I think it should be related to directories or blogging about blog tools.

Errors - I know that during submission there are sometime some errors but ... I don't know why - hosting, traffic who knows :) This not happen very often and there are different reasons. But there is easy solution, if you see error, wait some time and try resubmit your blog again. For sure form is working because I am still recieving a lot of submissions.

Tools for Bloggers

I decided to create new category called Blogger Tools. This category is not for blogs - blogs with tips and tricks for good blogging or with descriptions of other services for bloggers should go to other category like Internet. It is for all those tools that any blogger can use for making his blog better - like directories (especially blog directories), aggregators, counters, blog hosting, blog toplists and so on.

Rules are same like for other submissions, so reciprocal link is needed, there should be no harming scripts and exploits or popups and your webmaster service should be online for a while on the net (if you just put online new usefull resource don't worry, I will list it after two or three months when I see that your site is still running and not changed to something else). I think that this new category will be successful, because there is a lot of bloggers coming every day to Blogdirs for submiting their site and they can look how make their site better. When Blogger Tools grow I put a direct link on the submit page to them. So if you have some nice tool don't wait and submit it :) And if you run a blog, take a look there, maybe you will find something that you need.

Directory submit page LinkExchange

This is offer for other directory owners, if you have living (et least one year or site with lot of submited blogs) blog directory, we can exchange links to our submit pages (for now not to main page - I will make some resource page or pages in the future and when it will be online, for sure there will be category also for blog directories with possibility of linkexchange). I will place reciprocal link within few days.

Reciprocal Links

I know, that there are a lot of teories about directories. One very popular is saying, that directory should be free or paid, but no reciprocal. I don't think so. Reciprocal linking is in fact normal link exchange and thanks to the script is automated. There is no need to write emails, wait for reply or acceptance. As long as your site has reciprocal link, it will be accepted (of course if is legal and follows rules). Link to directory is not loss for your site, if you do not want only work for same fake linking schemes to cheat search engines. Any surfer, that click on link to directory probably do not want to click on something else on your site, and giving him a choice to move somewhere else keeps him satisfied. Forcing visitors to rotate between content that he do not need have only one result, this surfers only close your site.

Internet community started on exchanging links and this idea is still living - democratic and anyone have same rights and chances, no matter how big, rich or important he is. For me it is simple, with my link from this directory I help growing linked sites and it's fair if sites listed help growing this directory. Long term profit is for both sides, because honest sites are listed forever. If Blogdirs become bigger, your site become bigger of course too and vice versa.

This is reason, why I manually check all reciprocals. And this is also reason, why I do not accept fake reciprocal links listed on some page, that is not accesible for anyone. It's ok to put link back on some links page, but this links page should be easily available for your visitors. Reason is as written above, if I cannot grow with partnership with your site, I do not see any reason help growing your site. And one simple fact, that shows, that reciprocal link is not "stealing" your visitors. Blogs with hundreds of visitors a day, that have reciprocal link very visible are sending maybe one-two persons a day to directory. But of course if there is listed a lot of good sites (and they become better for every month they are listed here) it also means more visitors for directory - and back to other quality blogs.

Blog approval

I review newly submitted sites very often - as I wrote in last post almost daily. First step is looking for their pagerank. I list sites with every pagerang or without it but when I am reviewing sites for the first time site without pagerank (no with page rank 0 but with no page rank at all) is not reviewed and is put to waiting queue. It is because 90% of this blogs are blogs that are just started and after some experience most of them are live only few days or weeks and after that their autor stop posting. And I don't want directory full of sites with one or two very old posts that contain only some hello messages. I understand that small part of blogs vere never listed in any directory or exchanged links and this is their first submission somewhere and they have living content for months or years but it is really very small amount of submissions without pagerank. It is penalizing them a bit but it's really something like 1-2 blogs a month so it is better to leave them in queue and list them later.

After this first selection I take a look at the rest sites noticed by search engine. Now I take a look at age of the blog and sites that are +- one month old are put in the queue. If those blogs are updated, they will be listed later. Longer living blogs are then reviewed a bit more detailed. I take a look if the blog si looking like "spamblog" automatically updated filled only with some good only for adsense posts or only with make money online posts (blogs about online money making are listed, this is only about thos blogs without personality) and referral links it's also put in the queue. After that I take a look if there is reciprocal link on submitted blog (some people put as reciprocal info some other site or even google or my homepage - it's not working for me :)) and on some normal page. If there is no reciprocal link or no surfer can never see my link because page with my recip was created only for it I delete this site - ok is if page for reciprocal link is some post or created directory page linked from main page. And last thing I don't like are some popup windows, exploits and other dirty stuff. Those sites are also deleted. Rest of the sites are accepted (that means almost all normal submissions) only sometime I move them to other category that fits them better.

Second and last review is after few months when I take a look at all sites put in the queue. Now page rank is not interesting for me and I almost always take a look at two most important things. First is reciprocal link and second is if blog is living. Blogs that are live (almost all spamblogs are not updated for long time, their spammy owner build 100 new and forget about older) and with linkback are almost always listed. Of course if there is no dirty stuff like popups on them.

Basic Facts

Domain was registered in December 2005. Same month it goes online and recieved first submissions. Of course amount of submissions for new not known site was very low and I decided to start buying traffic from Google. This extremely helped Blogdirs to grow and after stable two year campaign I was able to reduce advertising budget, because 90 procent of new blog submissions is not going for payed advertisements and also most of the traffic comes here naturally from sites and search engines.

For now there is more than 1900 blogs listed in 69 categories. I add new categories reguraly always when there is more blogs with similar topic of interest. Biggest is Personal category where I add all blogs submitted as Personal and all non english blogs. There are some nonenglish blogs in other categories from past submissions but I am moving them regularly to Personal category always when I make cleaning of bad and dead sites and sites that are breaking rules. For the future I hope that in Personal category all languagues (and maybe alsou countries) will have their own subcategory under Personal category and best vision for far future is more subcategories under languagues sorted by topic.

Blogdirs is recieving 15-30 new submissions daily and almost daily I review new sites. But in first review I accept only few or no of new submitted blogs because of many different reasons but about approval rules for very fast submission I will write in some of next posts. But all sites with reciprocal link that are not accepted in first review i do not automatically delete. Those blogs are going to waiting queue and are reviewed againg after few months (2-4) - if they are live, do not break rules and have reciprocal they are accepted.

For now there is no option for today very popular in almost all directories payed listing as featured link or payed listing without reciprocal, but if there will be interest for this kind of service I can make it possible in the future.

Something about this stuff

This blog is about anything related to blogdirs blog directory. I hope this will give more interaction between visitors of directory, webmasters submiting to this directory and me. In the near future I hope to write more detailed informations about what I like and what I don't like in submited sites (i think rules are clear, but maybe more explanation will be better), how exactly confirmation process look like etc.

What I don't want to do is explaining 1000x one same question - "I submitted my blog, why it's not listed, when it will be listed ?" - so that's why I added this blog to directory to make things in future posts clear as clear they can be. Also I don't want to make this blog as some subdirectory or storage for thousends links burried in the comments. That's why I put comment moderation on and new posts will wait for approval - any normal will be listed. I put some notes on comment page too, but repeating sometime can help. This keep this site clean and any posts like "i giv ju good pills couse i luv you site" never go through.

When biggest part of administrative type posts will be online I hope to start writing something more about sites approved, sites I just listed and I like them, about cleaning of directory, new categories and so on. Hope that someone find some of future informations interesting.

See you later

p.s.
Sorry for not so good english. It's not my native languague.
